Abstract

Abstract A possible model of the mechanism of enzyme induction is presented and discussed in the light of present experimental knowledge. The central assumption in this model is that induction brings about the conversion of an enzyme‐precursor resulting in liberation and activation of a preexisting enzyme‐forming system.
