Abstract
Rules for Abbreviations and Symbols of Chemical Names of Special Interest in Biological Chemistry"(2)).They sought to reconcile the needs of the protein chemist, i.e. indication of amino-acid sequences, with those of persons concerned more with the chemical reactions of proteins and the synthesis of polypeptides, i.e. the need for conveying more detailed chemical information in abbreviated form.Recent progress in the field of peptide synthesis and in the chemical modification of proteins has made necessary a revision of these "Tentative Rules.

The focusing positions of polypeptides in immobilized pH gradients can be predicted from their amino acid sequences
Abstract The focusing positions in narrow range immobilized pH gradients of 29 polypeptides of known amino acid sequence were determined under denaturing conditions. The isoelec...
Expert system for predicting protein localization sites in gram‐negative bacteria
Abstract We have developed an expert system that makes use of various kinds of knowledge organized as “if‐then” rules for predicting protein localization sites in Gram‐negative ...
New scoring matrix for amino acid residue exchanges based on residue characteristic physical parameters
Based on residue characteristic physical parameters, a new scoring matrix, called EMPAR, for amino acid exchanges in proteins was obtained. When comparing protein sequences for ...
Amyloid plaque core protein in Alzheimer disease and Down syndrome.
We have purified and characterized the cerebral amyloid protein that forms the plaque core in Alzheimer disease and in aged individuals with Down syndrome. The protein consists ...
The Prediction of Bradykinin Potentiating Potency of Pentapeptides. An Example of a Peptide Quantitative Structure-activity Relationship.
The variation in amino acid sequence, in a set of bradykinin potentiating pentapeptides, is described by three variables per amino acid position. The variables were derived from...
