Abstract

Chomsky argues that if we accept that the physical world is ruled by immaterial forces, we may not comprehend our universe with our hominin minds, which is geared towards physical causation-based contact mechanics. If “physical” matter is made of just as immaterial energies as the mind, Cartesian dualism may be refuted from the direction of mind, not matter. In a world of immaterial causal forces, we might be better off if we thought of our mind as a force of an immaterial nature and stopped bothering about the materialist-dualities of folk psychology we are inclined to think in.
