RR Interval Dynamics Before Atrial Fibrillation in Patients After Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
Background —Atrial fibrillation/flutter (AF) is a frequent complication of coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) that leads to increased costs and morbidity. We hypothesiz...
Effects of head-down bed rest on complex heart rate variability: response to LBNP testing
Head-down bed rest is used to model physiological changes during spaceflight. We postulated that bed rest would decrease the degree of complex physiological heart rate variabili...
Dynamic Behavior of Heart Rate in Ischemic Stroke
Background and Purpose —Traditional spectral and nonspectral methods have shown that heart rate (HR) variability is reduced after stroke. Some patients with poor outcome, howeve...
Entropy measures of heart rate variation in conscious dogs
Our goal was to determine the contributions of sympathetic and parasympathetic activity to entropy measures of heart rate variability (HRV). We compared our results with two com...
Immediate and sustained hemodynamic and clinical improvement in chronic heart failure by an oral angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor.
The hemodynamic effects of an oral angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, captopril, were evaluated in 10 symptomatic patients with chronic congestive heart failure. In all pa...
