The Explanation of Minority School Failure, Again

1987 Anthropology & Education Quarterly 89 citations

Abstract

Most explanations of minority school failure incorporate native definitions of both failure and minority group membership. The power of such explanations is limited by their starting assumptions, and they function primarily as an apology for our present system. Minority school failure and its explanation by social scientists are two levels of the same process that we need to confront. ETHNOGRAPHY OF SCHOOLING, SCHOOL FAILURE, MINORITY EDUCATION
