Abstract

Abstract The amino acid sequence of staphylococcal nuclease isolated from cultures of strain Foggi is presented. Except for some uncertainty concerning the states of amidation of glutamic acid residues 73, 75, 129, and 131 and aspartic acid residues 77, 83, 138, 143, 144, and 146, the total sequence of nuclease from the Foggi strain is the same as that from the V8 strain with the exception of residue 124, which is histidine in the former and leucine in the latter.
