Abstract
<ns3:p>This article presents a cross-sectional view of the development of the fuel cell vehicles (FCEV) market from 2012 to 2022. Hydrogen vehicles currently constitute the smallest group of vehicles equipped with alternative powertrains to conventional ones. They are also a unique group among electric vehicles. The article describes the historical development of FCEVs, the level of market development from 2013 to 2022, and the realistic prospects for the popularization of FCEVs. The article also characterizes the global production of this category of vehicles from 2013 to 2022. The article attempts to estimate the actual size of the global FCEV fleet. It also presents sales of this vehicle category by individual country and continent. The article also discusses the sales and growing number of hydrogen buses and hydrogen trucks. Keywords: FCEV, hydrogenization of the economy, greenhouse gas emissions, passenger car market.</ns3:p>
